It has become common for workers to move into a completely different kind of job more than once before they retire. This is because of rapid technological change and longer working lives. I think this is good for people.

It has become common for workers to move into a completely different occupation more than once before they retire. This is largely the result of rapid technological change and longer working lives. Although changing direction has a cost, I would argue that it is, on balance, a positive development.
